Quick Start with Business Intelligence

It can be hard for a company or another organization to get started using Business Intelligence tools. It can be hard to decide on software, a development strategy, a budget, or even whether or not to go ahead with a project, when no one in the company is experienced in this field.

We have found that one of the best strategies for a company starting out with Business Intelligence is to quickly build an OLAP cube, so that users can see how their data looks in a multidimensional format. Once people are able to drill drown into their own data from a number of different perspectives, they have a better idea of the business advantage they can achieve with a full Business Intelligence system.

SDG Computing, Inc., is offering a Quick Start with Business Intelligence. We will create and deliver your first OLAP cube for a total development cost of $500.00. You will not need to purchase any software to view your cube.

Here are the details:

1. The staff at SDG Computing, Inc., will work with your people to determine the set of data that will be used for the initial cube. We want to set up a cube that has enough dimensions, levels, and measures so that your people can see the benefits of OLAP browsing. Setting up a BI system usually requires a significant amount of data transformation. For an initial cube, we will use your data in its current form, with a minimal amount of transformation.

2. Your data will be sent to SDG Computing, Inc., electronically in a text file, an Excel file, or as a Microsoft Access database. The staff at SDG Computing, Inc., will convert the data into a cube using Microsoft Analysis Services.

3. Your cube will be sent back to you as a local cube file. You will also be sent an HTML file configured for viewing of your local cube with the PivotTable Office Web Component that is distributed with Office 2000 or Office XP. (If you don't have Office 2000 or Office XP a read-only version of the Office Web Components is available from Microsoft.)  You can see an example of what your cube will look like at http://www.cubeslice.com/viewinglocalcubes.htm .

4. The purpose of this $500.00 offer is to give you a first look at what you can do with OLAP. A full BI system usually takes a significant amount of time to develop. We will get as many features into your first cube as we possibly can, because we want you to see how powerful OLAP can be.
